FRESHi Film Camp began in 1994 as an extension of the International Family Film Festival, with film industry friends who volunteered to lead workshops for kids. Over the past sixteen years it has grown into its own film camp which serves kids 10-18 years of age, and offers beginning and advanced instruction from film industry professionals.
This year, participants have the option to attend one or two 1-week camps:
Film Camp (one week)
1-Week Film Camp is an immersive digital filmmaking experience where kids learn filmmaking techniques and communication skills, work together to make their own digital film, and premiere their film for a live, invitation-only audience. The premier is followed by a Q & A, presentation of certificates, and reception.
Professionals from every facet of the film industry teach these young filmmakers how to develop their original ideas into stories, then plan and shoot their own digital films with the latest available technolgies and techniques, with an emphasis on internet exhibition. Every participant will take home a DVD Showcase of their work.
Acting Camp (one week)
Freshi has great respect for the actor’s craft, and this summer we offer an additional week-long camp for the aspiring actor. Whether their goal is to become a professional actor, or they just want to enhance their communication and presentation skills, this creative course, “Discovering the Storyteller Within You!” is an exceptional resource to help them reach it.
This program is a great addition to 1-Week Film Camp. Participants can apply their newly-honed acting skills in an exciting digital Film Camp production. Kids who opt for the 2-Week program are cast in a dynamic production that crescendos with a real “film premiere” screening of their work! What a perfect opportunity to learn a lot, have tons of fun, and take home a copy of the Film Camp DVD that showcases their acting chops!
Camp Tuition
ONE WEEK of Acting OR Film Camp: $650 ea. for individuals, $550 for groups of 10 or more.
TWO WEEKS of Acting AND Film Camp: $1,235 ea. for individuals, $1,100 for groups of 10 or more.

Focused on filmmakers 8-18 years of age, Freshi Film Camp introduces the tools of digital filmmaking and acting in a nurturing, supportive and friendly environment.
Freshi Film Camp is “hands-on,” and provides to young filmmakers equal access to all camera and editing equipment regardless of their level of proficiency. This aspect of the program resonates true to real-life work situations in the film and entertainment industries. Camp curriculum and instruction helps young filmmakers and actors develop their own stories and build a portfolio of work that can propel them on to success as students, and even as working professionals.
